Wedding in Benavente: What carabiners have joined together, let no man put apart.

Some weddings follow traditional customs, while others choose to break all the rules.
This wedding in Benavente was one of those authentic celebrations where the couple decided to do everything their own way.
A wedding without a dress, without rings; they get dressed on their own, right there at home. They arrive and walk down the aisle hand in hand, passing through the human tunnel formed by their nephews and nieces into the auditorium of the Benavente City Hall. The rain had made an appearance, so they changed the location on the fly. It’s okay. It’s okay not to follow the rules, the established norms, and what’s expected of a wedding. After all, it’s about the union of two people in front of their family and friends, regardless of how it’s celebrated. And if they identify more with mountain carabiners than with rings, then go for it. And if the party is held in the garden of their home and someone dares to jump into the pool, well, go for it too. Yull, their faithful pet, left us forever, and Leo arrived to stay. And if instead of throwing the bridal bouquet, they toss a bunch of garlic, well, go for it. The one who caught it was perhaps even more thrilled than if it had been the reddest roses in the world.
We loved photographing this wedding in Benavente because it reminded us that a wedding doesn't have to follow any rules to be perfect.
Such a charming couple...
